Prosvation attended in Malta for Youth Project “Europe through the eyes of an immigrant” |
In the framework of the KA152 YOU Erasmus+ project “Europe Through the eyes of an immigrant”, the Youth Mobility Action took place in Malta from 15 to 22 March 2024. Young people from Greece, Bulgaria, Hungary, Turkey, the Netherlands and Malta participated in the mobility action. Prosvation by Greece, was represented by six young people aged 18-30. During the mobility action, activities were carried out both among the participants and in cooperation with local residents.
Through these actions, the participants discussed their fears, their expectations, and what they anticipated from the project to contribute to their way of thinking about the migration issue. By highlighting their countries’ policies towards migration, they demonstrated the ways each country deals with the issue of migration. In addition, by creating groups of people from different countries, they interviewed local people about how they deal with immigrants in their daily lives. Among other things, each team was responsible for explaining to the other participants the EU’s policies on the major issue of migration and for suggesting solutions. To highlight the consequences of forced evictions that lead people to leave their countries in search of a better and safer environment to protect their lives and families, team members improvised theater plays and recorded short videos.
Overall, the participants showed creativity as well as an open mind that makes young people ready to embrace refugees and accept them into their society regardless of religion and race. Furthermore, through young people, societies need to understand that we are all human, that we do not choose where we are born, and that we are all born with the same rights and responsibilities. Every life is precious and should not be taken for granted.
